Bedroom Inspiration

All images via pinterest

Next week I am officially moving into my very own apartment.  This will be the first time I have lived without roommates, which means I am furnishing the apartment on my own (be watching for some DIY posts in the near future). This is a bit of a problem since I don't really own any substantial pieces.  Truthfully, I am completely unprepared for the move.  My strategy is to move in with the few pieces I have and slowly build my collection.  I am trying to avoid moving in with a ton of furniture I hate.  My plan may change after a couple of weeks of dining on the floor (I will keep you updated).  Anyways, I decided to start the decorating process in my bedroom.  I wanted to share some of the rooms I am drawing inspiration from. Enjoy!

The Bachelor's Kacie B: Episode 2

If you have been watching ABC's The Bachelor Season 16 with Ben Flajnik chances are you have fallen for my friend and sweet TN native- Kacie Boguskie.  On Episode 2, that aired this week, Kacie B and Ben went on the first one-on-one date in his hometown of Sonoma.  Kacie's laid back, all-American style was perfect for the small town stroll. I wanted to share the details on Kacie's outfit and help you get her look.

Kacie's striped sweater was Forever 21,  denim shorts by 7 for All Mankind,
and her boots are Indigo by Clarks and they are on SALE!

The Bachelor's Kacie B: Episode 1

My friends and I have many guilty pleasures- ABC's The Bachelor being one of them.  You could understand our excitement when we found out that one of our own had been chosen for the show!  We all got together at one of our favorite spots in downtown Knoxville this past Monday to watch Kacie B's bachelor debut.  Twitter was buzzing about the cute TN native and her adorable sequin dress.  Since her look was such a hit (even former bachelorette Jillian Harris tweeted about it!) I wanted to show you how to get the look.  The best part is each one of these dresses is less than $110!

Sequin Dress with Cap Sleeves on sale for $99.00 (originally $250!) /
 Swarovski Crystal Disc Earrings

I also wanted to share some pictures from the premiere party this week!  We had a blast and we could not be more proud of Kacie!

Hope you have a great weekend!  Be sure to watch ABC's The Bachelor on Monday to see more of Kacie Boguskie! We can't wait!

Cheers to the New Year!

Tonight is my favorite night of the year, and while I am sad I will not be partaking in New Years Eve festivities- I am very excited to be a part of a very special wedding this evening! Before I get to planning, I wanted to share a great tutorial from Martha Stewart Weddings on how to build a champagne tower.

1. Start with a firm, solid base for your tower (a separate table is best, with spillage tray at the base or underneath to catch any overflow.)
2. Always use coupe Champagne glasses (retro rounded saucer cups), not flutes. All of the coupe glasses in the tower should be identical. Most party rental places will have coupe glasses on hand for weddings.
3. The tower is essentially made up of successively smaller layers of squares. For example, if the bottom layer is 10 glasses by 10 glasses, the layer above that would be nine by nine, the layer above that eight by eight, and so on.
4. Make sure each glass touches the surrounding glasses. When done right, you'll see a diamond-shaped gap between each glass.
5. When building the next layer, center the stem of the glass over the diamond openings that were created by the layer below. Gingerly fill in the layer with glasses.
6. Repeat this assembly process until there is a single coupe glass on top.
7. Once fully assembled, begin slowly pouring Champagne from the the top glass and it will trickle downward. Larger-size Champagne bottles or magnums work best here.
8. If you're using the tower for decorative purposes only, assemble and fill with Champagne before the celebration. Then have trays filled with fresh Champagne at the base or passed to your guests.

I hope everyone has a wonderful new year!  Cheers to new beginnings!
