Stool School: How to Use Garden Stools Inside

Lately I have really been loving the look of a garden stool inside the home. A garden stool is very versatile.  These little guys can be used as a seat, ottoman, end table, a great home accent, or even a bedside table.   Buy a colorful stool as a quick way to spruce up a dull room- double them up for twice the impact!  Garden stools can fit in with any type of home decor and are a traditional piece that won't go out of style.  Pick one up at your local goodwill or thrift store, add a coat of colorful paint and you have a cheap & chic new piece for your home!

Currently Obsessed

I apologize for the lack of post these last two weeks- I promise I am going to be better now that I am settled into my apartment (and my internet is connected).  I wanted to share some of my latest obsessions with you.  I have had a girl crush on Rose Byrne ever since Bridesmaids and last night at the SAG awards she looked stunning!  I am not usually a fan of the jumpsuit, but she looked effortlessly chic in Elie Saab.  And her bob!!  Since I have been living on my own, my nightly routine has consisted of at least one or more of the following: Streaming netflix/ hulu plus on my Roku Player (no. 2 below), sipping on rose, and watching Midnight in Paris.  I think I am going to like living by myself :).  I hope you enjoy the rest of my latest loves...

Wish List: Roarke NYC Beaded Fringe Necklace

I stumbled upon this Roarke NYC necklace on the Merci New York blog while I was doing my daily wedding research, and I am completely in love. I don't think I have wanted something this badly in awhile.  This necklace is so fun and the hand beaded fringe is to die for!  I would wear it with a simple t-shirt and jeans.

Have a great Monday!

The Best Dressed: Golden Globes 2012

Tonight marked the beginning of my favorite season.   Awards Season! Gorgeous gowns, decadent jewelry, and all your favorite celebrities all in one room- who could ask for anything more?  Not every celebrity gets it right (sarah Michelle Gellar, Amanda Peet, Madonna, Lea Michelle, Angelina Jolie- I could go on), but the ones that do really wow.  I wanted to share my favorite looks of the night. Enjoy!

Jessica Chastain in Givency.  Love. Huge fan of the big hair.
Natalie Portman in Lanvin.  Has a very classic Jackie O feel.  Would have liked a more blinged out bag.
Claire Danes in J. Mendel.  The perfect amount of edge.
Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture & Cartier headband.  Hollywood.

I love a deep v and all things sheer so I was clearly obsessed with Piper Perabo's Theyskens' Theory gown. Was not a huge fan of Piper's crazy antics on the red carpet.

Rooney Mara looked sleek in this Nina Ricci gown.  Again, I love a deep v.

I know there are so many opinions about red carpet looks, and I would love to hear yours! Tell me your choices for best and worst dressed from the 2012 Golden Globes.

Maggie Jones: Top Ten Beauty Buys of 2011

I was thrilled when my good friend Maggie agreed to do a monthly beauty post.  Maggie's make-up and product collection looks as extensive and well organized as a Sephora store (I'm pretty sure she is one of their best clients).  Since Maggie has tried nearly every product out there- she is my go-to girl whenever I have beauty questions or need a new product recommendation. I couldn't wait to see what Maggie had chosen as her top ten beauty buys from this last year.  Here they are...

1. Moroccanoil Oil Treatment- This product has changed my hair, oh...and a bottle lasts forever! (LC swears by this oil!)

2. NARS Danmari All About Cheeks Palette- Everything you need in one palette to blush, bronze, hi-light and contour.  Not to mention the best pink blush ever- desire.  Obsessed.

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Concealer- I've tried a LOT of concealers, including the $55.00 one Kim K. wears (I know, I'm nuts) and this is my favorite.  Easy to apply, full coverage, and hydrating.

4. They're Real Mascara by Benefit- I've tried them all. Trust me, this one is great.

5. Sonya Dakar Omega-3 Repair- Gwenyth Paltrow along with other A-listers have called this product "liquid gold".  I have acne prone, oily skin so I use the "clear" version...only at night.  You may think it is crazy for someone with oily skin to apply more oil, but after using this one night your skin will glow.

6. Fake Bake Airbrush- Easy, easy, easy.  Just spray it on, that's it.  Not too dark so it is great for winter months when you don't want to be jerseylicous.

7. Tarte Foundation Brush- Applies foundation as if it is airbrushed.  LOVE.  It also came with foundation which was a plus.

8. Supersmile Accelerator- You will notice a difference in just a few days and it is so much easier than strips, trays, etc.  TIP: Make sure you brush for the recommended 2 minutes.

9.. Seche Vite Topcoat- Makes a manicure as high shine as possible without going to the salon. TIP: make sure the lid is on tight, this stuff will dry out fast.

10. Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask (Alex's Favorite)- I could go on and on about this entire product line.  Of course, I have always battled dryness, curls, and frizz.

- Maggie

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!  Thanks again Maggie for sharing all your recommendations and tips!

Bedroom Inspiration

All images via pinterest

Next week I am officially moving into my very own apartment.  This will be the first time I have lived without roommates, which means I am furnishing the apartment on my own (be watching for some DIY posts in the near future). This is a bit of a problem since I don't really own any substantial pieces.  Truthfully, I am completely unprepared for the move.  My strategy is to move in with the few pieces I have and slowly build my collection.  I am trying to avoid moving in with a ton of furniture I hate.  My plan may change after a couple of weeks of dining on the floor (I will keep you updated).  Anyways, I decided to start the decorating process in my bedroom.  I wanted to share some of the rooms I am drawing inspiration from. Enjoy!

The Bachelor's Kacie B: Episode 1

My friends and I have many guilty pleasures- ABC's The Bachelor being one of them.  You could understand our excitement when we found out that one of our own had been chosen for the show!  We all got together at one of our favorite spots in downtown Knoxville this past Monday to watch Kacie B's bachelor debut.  Twitter was buzzing about the cute TN native and her adorable sequin dress.  Since her look was such a hit (even former bachelorette Jillian Harris tweeted about it!) I wanted to show you how to get the look.  The best part is each one of these dresses is less than $110!

Sequin Dress with Cap Sleeves on sale for $99.00 (originally $250!) /
 Swarovski Crystal Disc Earrings

I also wanted to share some pictures from the premiere party this week!  We had a blast and we could not be more proud of Kacie!

Hope you have a great weekend!  Be sure to watch ABC's The Bachelor on Monday to see more of Kacie Boguskie! We can't wait!
